Chiara Gandolfi (Class of 2018) use her Travel Award grant to rescue monkeys in Africa!

Established in 1940 by a former Headmaster and his wife, in more recent years this award has been supported by The Sidcot School Education Trust. The award is designed to encourage you to get out there and make a difference. Think what skills you have and what global issues you feel strongly about. Good luck and thank you for applying!

CRITERIA

  • Applicants should be in Year 13 and planning a travel project either in the summer of 2026 or during the year following, taking up the award by the end of February 2027 and completing their travels by September 2027.
  • Your project should be a minimum of 2 weeks’ duration (although ideally longer) and be the main purpose of your journey with independent travel being an add on. Something in the region of 2/3rds time on project, 1/3rd travel.
  • The Trust seeks to support charitable and volunteering activities which reflect an education in serving others. However, your project might contribute something in other ways, it might be collaborative research, it might be something for which you are paid a stipend but can demonstrate what you will be contributing and learning.
  • In your application (or presentation), there should be good evidence of your contact with the relevant organisation or agency, as well as a breakdown of provisional costings.

If you receive an Award you will be expected to feedback your experience to the School, either by way of in person presentation or by photos and travel writings.

Your parents will be notified if you are invited for interview and should be in support of your application.
